A few words about EvilMrSod
EvilMrSod is the solo project and also the alter-ego of Pablo Ramón Rodriguez Rivero, singer, guitar player and main composer for Fuckin’ Family Faces, the well known rock ‘n’ roll band from Tenerife, Canary Islands. Born in Tenerife, stranded in Berlin a few years ago and recently moved to Leipzig, he is matured to an impressive singer and songwriter after his first LP. As “EvilMrSod” he combines very different music styles, it is not possible to label him in one direction. EvilMrSod is different, his style unmistakable. Folk-Rock, Country, Blues… each have their own place with EvilMrSod. He celebrates another facet in the Singer/Songwriter world: the dark side, the one with inconvenient stories but the naked truth.
1. What do you see in your dreams?
I’m not at all able to remember my dreams. I think the last time was some years ago. The few times it has happened I’ve dreamt about people I know in very day-to-day activities, nothing weird. It’s very strange because I’ve watching tons of horror movies, TV series, etc. since I was a kid (I still do) but nothing seems to stay in my head at night.
2. What is the most important thing in life?
Right now, in this very moment of my life, my family. I’d do anything for them. They are N. 1 priority. Then it comes music. And then design. Those are my drugs and my fuel.
3. When alone, do you talk to yourself? If so, what do you talk about?
I’m always talking to myself. I find it very helpful in order to concentrate when I work. I’m always telling myself what to do next: “ok, you got that right, now this comes here and that goes there”. I like to (let’s call it) “receive orders” when I work. It helps me to understand my task and how to do it right. Nevermind if music or design. It works with both.
4. How is this world going to end?
Honestly, I have no idea. On one hand it would be great a big boom: one second we are here and the next we are gone. Our loved ones wouldn’t have to suffer and we could go to whatever comes next. On the other hand… hey, it’s the end of the world. If there’s gonna be fire and demons and bullshit I want first row tickets. But probably it’s going be something more real than all that: war, hunger, etc.
5. Why do music?
‘Cause it’s air. I need it to live. Ever since I began playing music, I haven’t stopped and if you’d asked me to stop today, I wouldn’t know what to do. I’m no genius but I think I’ve managed to find a place where I do my thing, some people seems to like it and we’re all happy. It’s no big deal: it’s just music. Don’t get me wrong, I take it very seriously, but I’m no doctor, I don’t have to save lives, I just write songs and play and sing them. I don’t follow big marketing plans, I’m not worried about record executives or publicists. I just wake up in the morning and it’s there. Sometimes I enjoy it alone at home, sometimes on stage. Works for me.
